"Jive Records drops Kelis"

from Billboard.com - by Hillary Crosley, N.Y.

Quirky R&B singer Kelis has been dropped from her Jive contract, according to a published report.

The artist released two albums on the label: 2003's "Tasty" spawned the hit "Milkshake" and sold 533,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan. But last year's "Kelis Was Here" was the subject of numerous release date changes and has shifted just 157,000 to date.

Kelis' manager told Entertainment Weekly that the singer is working on an independent dance album with Cee-Lo. They're also shopping a pop album helmed by songwriter Guy Chambers, who co-wrote hits like "Angel" for Robbie Williams. In the meantime, Kelis is in talks to host a "Project Runway"-esque show for VH1 and is auditioning for various film and TV roles.

Jive was unavailable for comment at deadline.

* Meanwhile, back at the ranch.... This album has at LEAST 4 potential hit singles on it. Perhaps the true reason for poor sales of her last album was due to Jive not being able to promote her. That's my 3 cents. - Ace:)
