LOS ANGELES (AFP) — A movie based on the life of tragic Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain is being planned by Hollywood studio Universal, it was reported on Friday.
Daily Variety reported that the studio had acquired the rights to a biography of Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994 at the age of 27 near the height of the grunge-rock band's success.
Variety reported that Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, would serve as an executive producer on the film.
Cobain's death was the thinly veiled subject of Gus Van Sant's 2005 film "Last Days."
